A book is like a friend. We understand the world and life, or even observe ourselves through texts, and have a deep realization of oneself that we are not alone. PMQ invites different people from design and culture sectors to recommend a book, so that you can enrich yourselves as book therapy.

Why would you recommend this book?

yeungchop @One Seventh Bookshops: A look in the life of a cartoonist in Burma

Guy Delisle is a Canadian cartoonist. He immigrated to Burma with his newborn son and his wife who is a MSF doctor stationed there to settle down. Through humorous words and comic style, he presents the years of living in a foreign country with all kinds of interesting events and life records like missing pages in "Time Magazine" due to censorship; currency denominations due to the superstition of the rulers; the author was splashed all over his body during the four-day water splashing festival. Readers can not only see the local life scenery in Myanmar, but also get to know Myanmar from another perspective from the close interaction between the author and local residents, as well as the daily observations of local culture, politics, and religion.

This kind of comic travel notes with short stories about local life is an easy way to get to know a foreign country. After reading it, it may inspire readers to learn more about Myanmar.
