A book is like a friend. We understand the world and life, or even observe ourselves through texts, and have a deep realization of oneself that we are not alone. PMQ invites different people from design and culture sectors to recommend a book, so that you can enrich yourselves as book therapy.

Why would you recommend this book?

Timothy Cheng: We are the chosen ones. Overwhelmed by various uncertainties, things are changing in a blink of an eye. Epidemics bring changes to the world. To embrace the new world, I picked up this book - “怪しくゆかいな妖怪穴” from the book shelf.

“Monster is like a window with many unsolved mysteries" Human beings visualize the dark side and call them monsters. Facing the epidemic, we will encounter many unsolved mysteries now and in the future. Smart as Warren Edward Buffett, who has lived for 89 years and will also panic when he knows about the market situation at present. In “怪しくゆかいな妖怪穴”, a total of 100 monsters from Japanese streets are recorded, reflecting the uneasiness and fear of people. They all imply metaphors and apocalypse.

It would be too stressful to read this book just for understanding the traditional Japanese folk culture. For me, this book is like “Book of answer”. It contains 100 short stories, plus illustrations full of mystery ambience. Pick a chapter and read on, you may be inspired by monster stories.

I hope this book serves a blade that will help you to kill a little time at this very special occasion.
