The 3rd Hong Kong Photobook Festival, organized by Lumenvisum and funded by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, will be held from May 2 to May 4, 2025, at PMQ (35 Aberdeen Street, Central).

The festival features a diverse lineup of programs, including the “Hong Kong Photozine & Photobook Dummy Award 2025″ prize-giving ceremony, exhibitions showcasing award-winning photobooks and dummies from China and Hong Kong, a photobook market, workshops, as well as talks and sharing sessions. We warmly invite everyone to explore the world of photobooks and discover the boundless possibilities of visual publishing.

A photobook is far more than just a book. With varying image arrangements and binding techniques, each photobook carries its own rhythm—of visuals, text, and narrative flow. The strong creative vision and high level of autonomy exercised by authors in editing and sequencing give every photobook a distinctive tone and storytelling style. This open-ended approach to creation has fueled the global rise of photobooks, making them a powerful medium for photographers and artists to convey their ideas.

Moreover, in the digital age, printed books and self-publishing have become more accessible than ever. We believe the popularity of photobooks as a medium will continue to grow, with no signs of slowing down.

Since the “Hong Kong Photobook Festival” began in 2021, we have been dedicated to exploring the potential of local photobook creations and sharing these unique visual narratives globally. Through the “Hong Kong Photobook Dummy Award,” winning and shortlisted works have toured 14 cities worldwide. Thanks to our venue partners, Hong Kong-based visual narratives have transcended boundaries and reached a worldwide audience. Also, this year’s Photobook Market features the highest number of overseas exhibitors, offering unprecedented opportunities for cultural exchange.

In 2025, we are proud to introduce the “Hong Kong Photozine Award”, a new initiative dedicated to inspiring passion among young artists with the theme of “Hong Kong.” This reflects our hope and commitment to empowering the next generation, wishing them to soar on wings like eagles.

We strive to carry this momentum forward, bridging the past and the future, and empowering more photobook creators to soar beyond borders. We will serve as a platform connecting artists, photographers, publishers and audiences, offering a series of events, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in the world of photobooks.
