Cloisonné Filigree is a traditional decorative art form that combines exquisite craftsmanship with vibrant enamel colors. Originating in the Yuan Dynasty and flourishing during the Ming and Qing Dynasties in China, this technique has been used to create breathtaking works of art, from vases and bowls to jewelry and ceremonial objects.
About The Workshop :
Explore the intersection of tradition and innovation in this hands-on workshop.
Create a Cloisonné coaster featuring 3D filigree and Raden techniques, where classic craftsmanship is reimagined through 3D printing for ultra-fine 0.2 mm detailing, vibrant non-fired cold enamel glazes, and a simplified Raden process that highlights the beauty of modern mother-of-pearl design.
(No firing or high temperatures required with non-fired cold enamel glaze)
Workshop Highlights :
- Learn the history of Cloisonné & Raden significance, and design principles
- Hands-On activities to explore colour theory and create a coloured sketch
- Practice enamel filling and raden techniques with vibrant enamel powders and coloured shells
Class Size:
Maximum of six participants per class
Note:
- The completed 3D filigree base will be pre-prepared by the instructor (Mandala Pattern or Hong Kong Pattern)
- Coaster size: 8cm x 8cm, available in square or round.
- Participants can select a crystal or matte finish for their wooden coaster. For the crystal finish, leave your wooden tray with us—we’ll handle it. You can pick it up later or request SF delivery.
- Workshops can be taught in English/Cantonese
- ~2 – 2.5 hours workshop
- Suitable for participants aged 10 and above
