So often overshadowed by neighboring Kyoto, Fukui was extremely influential in shaping both the age of the Samurai and Japan’s modern era. The rugged, fertile land and snow-covered mountains gave birth to premium local rice and sake with a unique crisp, balanced structure which today is revered in Japan and beyond. Fukui’s snowy mountains bred artisans who created masterpieces of art by paint, ceramic and sculpture. Down the mountainside, along the coastline of the sparsely populated prefecture, the cold waters of the coastline are home to the famous Echizen crab and many other delicacies of the sea.

This year from November 20th to December 31st, come by Sake Central to explore the wonderful land of Fukui with an exclusive Pop Up Shop featuring more than 50 labels of local sake from 20 breweries plus Echizen pottery, Urushi tablewares, Washi paper, Japanese handcrafted candles and fresh Fukui delicacies presented with an international twist! We will also feature an Echizen Yaki Ceramic painting in a workshop for those who want to unleash their inner artist!

As the snow starts to fall, sake brewers are busy producing next year’s sake. Join us in March 2020 when these sakes will be freshly pressed and delivered to Sake Central in March for a second Fukui Pop Up Shop! In the meantime, come around for a glass of the current, exclusive sake and a deep dive into Fukui’s Echizen craft and food culture.

*Events and sales may change subject to import availabilities.
