Print Art Contemporary is operated by Hong Kong Open Printshop with locations in both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. The new space at SG03-07, G/F, Block A, PMQ in Central features a gallery of over 1,000 square feet.
Along with Open Press, Open Press showcases archival documents, Chinese and English movable type as well as various printing machines donated by local pressmen. This revitalises letterpress printing, which was popular in the 1970s and 1980s, while exploring the lost technique of typecasting in Hong Kong.
The current location at L8-06, 8/F, JCCAC in Shek Kip Mei will retain the well-equipped Print Lab and Archive, while the existing gallery will be transformed into a Viewing Room.
