A book is like a friend. We understand the world and life, or even observe ourselves through texts, and have a deep realization of oneself that we are not alone. PMQ invites different people from design and culture sectors to recommend a book, so that you can enrich yourselves as book therapy.

Why would you recommend this book?

Teresa: There is a 94-year-old life mentor in the heart of Aomori ken, Japan. 佐藤初女, who exercises ”hospitality + listening" in her dedication service for 50 years. In the quiet forest house, she treats each and every visitor with homemade food, hoping to help them strengthen through sharing and listening.

The 94-year-old lady demonstrates perseverance and makes use of her dedication to accompany people who had lost their minds. She also encourages others to take on her role as life mentors. She is convinced that treating people with delicious food is a kind of trust, and this even touches people’s hearts. 佐藤初女 is our inspiration that constantly reminds us of why we started this bookstore at the first place. We hope visitors could feel warmth and trust in our food.

There is incredible power in life inside the fine seeds. I would like to dedicate this book to 佐藤初女.
