24 October 2019 (Thursday)
7:00pm – 9:00pm
Enjoy a creative evening learning about traditional Chinese brush and ink with artist Tony Law. The workshop will introduce participants to some basic Chinese calligraphy information and techniques—types of scripts, transformation of Chinese characters, calligraphy tools, how to hold a brush, etc. Participants will be given time to explore with brush and ink and create their very own masterpieces! The workshop will be conducted in English and is particularly suited for CSL (Chinese as a Second Language) participants who are interested in art and wish to learn a little Chinese.
About the artist:
Tony serendipitously took his first ever weekly Chinese calligraphy class in 2016 and has since been obsessed with brush and ink. “Chinese calligraphy is simply a form of line art,” the calligraphy teacher once told him. The truth of the saying is continually being realized as the artist explores this medium beyond calligraphy and into cartooning, portraiture, life drawing, and more.
