Since 2024, Gallery tete has been dedicated to bringing Japanese craftsmanship to Hong Kong. Through our various curations, we are also connecting and exchanging ideas with many local Hong Kong creators. Moving forward, our vision transcends the boundaries of Japanese craft; we hope to share the stories of any artist whose work deeply moves us upon our meets.

For our first round, we are honored to present a solo exhibition by Hong Kong ceramic artist Kwan Wai Chan, opening on July 24th.

Kwan Wai Chan @ephelis.studio studied BA degree in fashion knitwear at Central Saint Martins in London and subsequently worked as a fashion designer for Christian Dior Couture.

After accumulating a wealth of experience in the fashion industry, she embarked on her ceramic journey in 2017. Returning to Hong Kong in 2018, she founded her studio, éphēlis, and has since explored her artistic expression by navigating the delicate space between functional vessels and sculptural forms.

Gently flowing through her pieces are expressions of femininity and the organic curves found throughout nature. These forms are not merely aesthetic; they project the distances between people, memories, and the intimacy born from the act of touch.

The soft ridges, the comforting negative space, and the resonance felt when holding a vessel evoke subtle, shifting emotions.
