Arnault Castel was born and raised in france – first founded kapok in 2006 as an antidote to the perceived blandness of hong kong retail scene. kapok focuses on designers and brands whose work reflects their attitude towards quality craftsmanship and creativity in design. Arnault has developed an extensive knowledge and understanding of the asian consumer goods and retail environment since 1996. With outstanding knowledge and experience, Arnault decided to start a series of collaborations with various hong kong designers for the pmq project, gathering the best of local design.

In 2013 the trio developed a line of reading glasses that was a sleek reimagining of the spare reading specs for sale in pharmacies. A line of sunglasses and reading sunglasses followed. Boasting clean, simple frames and high quality at an affordable price, the line was sold over an ultra-exclusive distribution network in the world including Colette, Le Bon Marché and Merci in Paris as well as Harrods and Selfridges in London, the MoMA, Dover Street Market and Neiman Marcus in New York and Isetan in Tokyo.
The glasses come in iconic packaging (a box and a felt case) and are easily identified, and they have become a genuine chic must-have item that are accessible to all.
founded in 2013 by amélie le roux in britany, france, béton ciré is a combination of street and sea. béton, meaning concrete, refers to the urban world and “street” culture, and ciré, meaning waxed, is a nod to the yellow raincoats worn by mariners. an update of the traditional “breton miki” hat worn by sailors, the caps are a cross between a 6 panel cap and a beanie, harbouring both details and marrying the sea and the city.
béton ciré made its way to hong kong with kapok a year after it was first launched with colette in paris. 4 years on, this trendsetting and original cap is immensely popular here, selling out every delivery and even spawning multiple copies.

Ciaolink is founded by Megumi Takami, a Japanese designer living in Hong Kong. Megumi’s design is trying to capture the essence of Hong Kong in a product primarily intended for visitors and expatriates to be able to take with them a piece of this vibrant city and its unique ambience. Found by Stephanie and Ming in 2013 when two vintage lamp lovers met and opened their store. They started their first store in ETSY and have achieved a great success.
