Back and Forth

After 14th February, once again we are in a panic because of chocolate.

It doesn’t matter if your darling made you a box of chocolate truffle, or if your babyboy spent hours waiting for you in the middle of the plaza with a bunch of flowers and wearing the only-you-will-appreciate couple’s outfit, every sweet move that we received on Saint Valentines’ day, according to the new tradition, we have to return favours a month later as a reply of affection. And when the day comes, we somehow wish it never existed.

It is all about interaction when we return favours on White Day. Take it as a tennis game: the opponent sends the ball with a forehand stroke from the baseline, in any way we decide to hit the ball, we are only aiming at sending it back to the opponent so that we can continue the game. We are not hoping to win, since we still want this game with our babe, boo, nounours, papi or whatever-you-name-him/her, to last as long as it can, right?

The fact is, a special box of chocolate truffles with a specially designed flavour is really unbeatable, so…why not try this chocolate ox-tongue pastry full of creamy filling? It might not be as wonderful as the chocolate truffle, but at least, it will get some applause for its creativity.

Let's try!

  • 2 ox-tongue pastry
  • 1 pack of dark chocolate
  • 2 small pieces of butter
  • Cream cheese
  • Brown sugar
  • Ground cinnamon

Step by step

    1. Melt the chocolate in a bowl sitting on hot water
    2. Mix chocolate with butter and cinnamon
    3. Mix sugar and cream cheese in a separate bowl
    4. Cut the pastries open horizontally in the middle, but not right through
    5. Spread the cream cheese mix generously in the pastries
    6. Dip one side of each pastry in the chocolate, then set cold on baking paper in the fridge for ten minutes.

It might not be as wonderful as the chocolate truffle, but at least, it will get some applause for its creativity.
