PMQ Taste Kitchen resurrects the beloved Mrs. Fan’s Kitchen to celebrate Hong Kong home-style cooking.

PMQ Taste Kitchen, is ringing in the new year by reviving an old favourite: Mrs. Fan’s Kitchen (范湯皇) of Sai Wan Ho. Founded in 2015 by passionate Mrs Fan (范太), M&M Kitchen specialized in healthy and honest Hong Kong home-style cooking. It was Fan’s warm persona and her ability to recreate what diners essentially felt was “Mum’s cooking” that quickly won her legions of fans. Unfortunately the small eatery, located on the ground floor of the iconic Tai On Building, was forced to shut in mid-2017 due to rental disputes.

Caleb and Joshua Ng of Twins Kitchen, operators and consultants of the PMQ Taste Kitchen incubator, work with Fan and were able to secure a seven-week period (8 January to 22 February 2018) to collaboratively highlight the benefits of humble, family-style eating that is free from additives and MSG.

Lunch offering
The Central/ Sheung Wan office crowd can expect a rotating list of quick and wholesome lunch sets that are offered daily. Fan’s signatures include beef & tomato with rice; and beef brisket curry with rice. There is also a bowl of classic Cantonese-style soup (changes daily), as well as a healthy drink, such as a winter melon & dried barley tea.

Dinner offering
Dinner guests will be treated to a more elaborate affair, where Fan presents several fixed menus (advanced booking is recommended) that deftly showcase her greatest hits— including crispy Yellowfin seabream with scales and a fried Threadfin that had been lightly cured for a day— a firm favourite among Hong Kong fishermen.
